Life Transitions

Life transitions are periods in our lives where we move from living or being one way, to living or being another way.

Life transitions may be occasions for joy and seen as positive, or may be experienced negatively, particularly if they are unexpected or dramatic.

Some examples of life transitions include:

  • Adolescence
  • Beginning or ending a relationship
  • Marriage
  • Having a baby
  • Menopause
  • Losing or changing a job
  • Divorce
  • Retirement
  • Growing older
  • Accidents or serious illness

Accepting that change is a normal part of life, and learning skills that will enable you to express and work through emotions is achievable.
