Self Esteem

People with low self-esteem tend to believe others are better than themselves, and regularly look to others for reassurance, acceptance and approval. They also focus on their weakness and shortcomings, while overlooking their positive qualities and attributes.

If you have experienced or are experiencing problems relating to people, getting what you want from others, standing up for yourself, objecting when others do wrong by you, fear trying new experiences or pursuing goals because of what others might think, then chances are you have low self esteem.

Symptoms of low self-esteem may include:

  • Trying to be perfect
  • Fear of making mistakes, being rejected or looking foolish or inadequate
  • Feeling uncomfortable and tense in everyday situations
  • Lack of assertiveness
  • Agreeing to things you don't want to do
  • Lack of self-confidence and self-belief
  • Feeling depressed or anxious
  • Not being able to accept compliment
